Wire runners-up in Final Fours

CHESHIRE Wire under 18s finished their last season together as Junior National Final Fours runners-up.

The Warrington side won the first of their Final Fours game 77-63 against Solent Kestrels to progress to an all-North West final against Manchester Magic.

But the youngsters, who will be heading different ways after completing their final junior season, came up narrowly short in a 71-84 loss in the final.

Club secretary Ros Johnson said: “Everyone here at Cheshire Wire would like to congratulate everyone involved on such an amazing season, which will be the final one with Wire for most of them.

“We couldn’t be any prouder of a great team and a great bunch of lads, we wish them all the very best for the future.”

Our U15s Boys team made it to the Final Fours for the second year running!

The competition took place on Saturday 5th April 2014 at the University of Worcester Arena.

The semi final saw us play Newham All Star Sports Academy (NASSA) who had previously beaten us in our last encounter as U13s in the 2012 quarter finals. Although NASSA started out strong in the first quarter Wire went on to win the game by 94 points to 68 in a very sweet win!

The final was played against a very strong Peckham Pride who, at one point, were 11 points up on us. Although we fought back, Peckham were just too strong and in the end pipped us to win by just three points 68-71.

Well done U15’s, we are all very proud of you!
