Cheshire Wire U14s battled through six gruelling 40 minute matches to win the 2017 U14 Anthony Walker Tournament by beating Cheshire Phoenix 47 – 20 in the final in Liverpool.
The tournament was attended by five teams, namely Cheshire Phoenix 
, Cheshire Wire 
, Lancashire Spinners 
, Stockport Falcons 
, and the hosts Liverpool 
. After a round robin tournament, the semi-finals saw Cheshire Wire play against Liverpool and Cheshire Phoenix play against Lancashire Spinners. After the earlier match in the morning which saw Wire snatch a one point victory over Phoenix 23 – 22, it was expected that the afternoon’s contest would be a close encounter also but Wire had other thoughts and put together what can only be described as a dazzling performance of team basketball by those who witnesssed it.
