Cheshire Wire Under 16 Premier are the National Premier League silver medallists for 2016.
It just wasn’t to be our day as the Under 16 Premier team were unable to deliver the national title that so many of us in the club really wanted. In a tough encounter against local rivals, Manchester Magic, the first half was a topsy-turvey affair with both teams having streaks of points against their opponents but by the end of the half it was Magic who led by the narrowest of margins 36 – 35. The third quarter started in the same vain as the first two but eventually one team managed to take control. Unfortunately for us, it was Manchester Magic who built up an 8 point lead by the end of it. In our last encounter in the league, we had managed to claw back a similar Magic lead but on this occasion, the home court advantage took its toil on the team and Magic ran out comfortable winners by a score of 75 – 59.
Congratulations to the team on a valiant effort. It has been a blast and a privilege to watch you all perform this season. You are a credit to the club and the sport of basketball. Good luck to all of you.
